This group consisted of 27 European young people of 9 nationalities, including 2 European Commission Trainees, who were selected from among 2,284 applicants.
Although it was a rainy day, they appeared to very much enjoy the opportunity to meet and interact with our students and graduates.
At first, Vice-President Yamaguchi gave her welcome speech. This was followed by a, lecture entitled "Japanese Society: Overcoming Stereotypes" by Associate Professor Chris Burgess, After the lecture participants took part in a vibrant session.
After a 10 minutes break, participants were split into four groups for discussion purposes. The discussion group themes were "International migration and multicultural symbiosis", "Borderless youth culture and national culture", "Gender equalization in a contemporary world" and "University: Comparison of Europe and Japan".
The animated discussions highlighted both similarities and differences between Europe and Japan.
The final session of the day consisted of a number of English speeches presented by members of Tsuda's English Speaking Society (TESS). These were enthusiastically received by the audience.
